UKRAINE

I never imagined that there would be a page on this website entitled UKRAINE.   Furthermore, it is even sadder that there has been a need to create this page, but following the recent atrocities that have taken place there, and continue to do so, it was a privilege to be invited to Leigh Fire Station on Friday 18th March 2022, where 5 appliances,  donated by North West Fire & Rescue Services, were beginning the long journey to the Ukraine border.  There, the appliances would be donated to Firefighters in Ukraine.   The first leg of the journeyfor these appliances was to Kent where they would become part of a larger convoy of 19 appliances donated by Fire & Rescue Services across the United Kingdom.  It was a very emotional occasion as members of the Ukrainian Community in the Manchester area came along to witness the departure.

This was a joint venture between the North West Fire & Rescue Services, Fire Aid & Operation Florian.
